TFA Dostmann Thermo Analogue Thermometer Hygrometer with Metal Ring, Humidity Meter, Multicoloured, L 71 x W 23 x H 71 mm,45.2024

Wanted an analog hygrometer (to avoid yet another set of batteries) that wasn't made in China and this one has done nicely ever since, no issues and certainly accurate enough to gauge room humidity.

Very well designed.Nice, clear dial.Compared against my digital hygrometer, it is inaccurate by at least fifteen to twenty degrees, though.I understand that it was supposed to have been calibrated out of the box.It is an absolute disaster to try to adjust the dials at the back.

I use this to check the moisture in my room. I live in a top floor flat so drying washing is a problem. Temperature and moisture readings seem very accurate. I bought this one in German because my partner is German. But even if you speak English only, this is easily clear to read. The green sections are a great way to quickly see if things are ok.

Ease of use.

Required calibration upon arrival and the process is difficult. Even after using a tiny flat head screwdriver to calibrate the difficult to find slots, I am still not confident that it gives an accurate reading.

I tested this against my digital hygrometer and it was correctly calibrated out of the box (or they're both equally wrong), likewise the thermometer is both correct and responsive.20-25 C and 40-60% rH being ideal is subjective and some people will be confused by the needles crossing over but it's an attractive design I think. The casing is made to allow it to be hung from a hook/screw/etc. but it helpfully balances upright when placed on a flat surface.It's obviously for indoors only because it doesn't appear to be sealed and the temp only goes to 0 C.

With mechanical devices like this one, it's difficult to trust if they are calibrated correctly by the time they arrive at your doorstep. Trying to get any two or three thermometers to agree is almost impossible, however with hygrometers it's even more difficult. There are holes at the back to adjust the settings of both instruments with a small screwdriver but the problem is that you need another calibrated and accurate device before doing that. In the end I decided to try some digital versions to see if agreement is any better (based on other reviews, probably not).This device is light and made of metal and plastic. Once calibrated it works reasonably well.

Inaccurate and one came with the humidity needle caught behind the base of the temperature needle.
